About MANLIBNET

 

MANLIBNET was registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in the year 2000 with broad objectives of providing a common forum to the library processionals and to develop understanding and co-operation particularly among management and business libraries and the librarians for effective collaboration and resource sharing.

Management Libraries Network was established in the year 1998 at the first convention jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and Ahmedabad Management Association. The Management Libraries Network has been registered under the Society Registration Act – XXI of 1860.

The primary objective of MANLIBNET is to provide a common forum to the professionals and to develop understanding and cooperation, particularly among business & management libraries and library professionals. MANLIBNET acts as teachers and consultants to each other that help us identify issues and overcome challenges with advice and support from around the country. On professional platforms, MANLIBNET tries to put you in contact with current and future leaders in the library profession.

To facilitate experience sharing and professionals' network, MANLIBNET organizes annual conferences in collaboration with leading academic institutions situated in various locations. Apart from annual conferences, the Librarian Development Programmes (LDPs) are one of the significant milestones of MANLIBNET activities towards the professional and educational enhancement of LIS professionals. In memory of founder President of MANLIBENT, Shri Ashok Jambhekar, a series of MANLIBNET Ashok Jambheker Memorial Lecture was started in 2007.

MANLIBNET promotes outstanding library practices by identifying the Best Librarian from the information professionals' community and recognizes the academic and professional work on an annual basis. MANLIBNET Best Paper Award is for incentivize library professionals who contribute research papers to MANLIBNET annual conferences.

To promote research in LIS, MANLIBNET-Bharat Book Bureau International Travel Grant Award is given to MANLIBNET members for presenting an original and unpublished paper in an International Library Conference held outside India.
