Overview

The rapid advancement of scientific research is the cornerstone of sustainable progress for our civilization. In this context, Emerging Smart Materials in Applied Chemistry (ESMAC-2024) serves as a platform to explore cutting-edge materials that drive sustainability. Jointly organized by the School of Applied Sciences at KIIT, the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI)—one of the oldest interdisciplinary research organizations—and CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, this prestigious conference will take place from 20th to 22nd December 2024.

ESMAC-2024 aims to bring together a diverse group of senior and young scientists to engage in thought-provoking discussions, share insights, and address challenges in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The conference will host over 500 researchers who will present their findings through talks and poster presentations, fostering a collaborative environment for the exchange of knowledge.

Young scientists will have the unique opportunity to showcase their work and compete for recognition in Oral and Poster presentation categories, with awards given to the most impactful contributions.

About the KIIT

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT)

Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), a household name in the education sector, has become a sought-after destination in India for professional studies. It is admired all over for the quality of its academic courses, its community outreach work and as a university of compassion and humanitarianism. It has become a case study because no other educational institution in India has grown in its scope and scale as much as KIIT has in a short span of 25 years.

It has received all accreditations and affiliations from prestigious national and international bodies such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, (IET), UK because of its quality research, innovation, and publications and citations. KIIT is ranked in the cohort of 601-800 in the Times Higher Education ‘World University Ranking’.  It has also been the top university for innovation among private institutions for two consecutive years (2020, 2021) according to AICTE, Government of India. It has been ranked among the top 151-200 universities in the world as per the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2022.

About the IMMT

Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT)

CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) was established on 13.04.1964 as Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar in the eastern part of India under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. It was renamed in 2007 with a renewed research focus and growth strategy to be a leader in the areas of mineral & material resource engineering.

The institute has expertise in conducting basic research and technology oriented programs in a wide range of subjects to address the R&D problems of mining, mineral and metals industries and ensure their sustainable development. For the last one decade, the main thrust of R&D at CSIR-IMMT has been to empower Indian industries to meet the challenges of globalization by providing advanced and zero waste process know-how and consultancy services for commercial exploitation of natural resources through the public-private-partnership (PPP) approach. Today, CSIR-IMMT is the first choice for many mineral based industries. It is also carving out a niche in processing of advanced materials for greater value addition and working on resource use efficiency of critical raw materials.

About CRSI

The Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) was established in 1999 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the country’s independence. Currently, CRSI represents more than 4000 lifetime members, who participate in the study, practice, teaching and promotion of Chemistry. The main objectives of the CRSI are to recognize, promote and foster talent in Chemistry and Chemical Sciences and to improve the quality of Chemical Education at all levels. The CRSI organizes conferences, seminars, workshops, symposia and other related programs to facilitate and promote research in all branches of Chemistry. The society has active collaboration with the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), London, the American Chemical Society (ACS), Asian Chemical Editorial Society (ACES), the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and the French Chemical Society.
