The Orissa Environmental Society was founded in 1982 with the prime objective of promoting awareness towards protection of the fast- deteriorating environment and conservation of the depleting natural resources of the State by way of undertaking diverse activities. It has also been preaching the principles of sustainability based on ecologically, economically and socially sound practices. In recognition of the services rendered by it, the Society is being represented in various state as well as national level committees and forums on environment, wildlife, science and technology. It has made landmark contributions in respect of Similipal Biosphere Reserve, Chilika Lagoon, Mahendragiri hill terrain, Community conservation of blackbucks, Angul-Talcher industrial area, and Clean & Green Campaign to name the prime realms of its work, by way of research, education and awareness promotion. The Society has brought out several publications on diverse aspects of the environment and natural resources. With about 900 life members in its roll, it has earned the unique distinction of enjoying the accreditations of some national and international organizations. It played the pivotal role in the opening of the Bhubaneswar Chapter of the Indian Science Congress Association in 1996.

From a modest beginning in 1997, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) has evolved into a multi-disciplinary university, respected worldwide for its culture of educational excellence. The excellent academic ambience, quality faculty, adherence to strict academic rigor and plethora of other academic activities led to the grant of Deemed to be University status under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 to the Institute by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India in the year 2004, within just six years of its inception. KIIT, though a very young institution, has performed incredibly well in the rankings conducted by various national and international associations. Today, KIIT offers professional education to around 40,000 students from across India and overseas. This includes over 2,000 international students from 65 countries. The alumni of KIIT, over a lakh of them, have made their mark in their respective careers in academics, corporate organizations, civil services and enterprises. KIIT has now grown to incomprehensible propositions and is spread over a vast 36-square-kilometre academic township. Its 30 lush green campuses employ over 3,000 eminent faculty and researchers and 15,000 staff members. KIIT and KISS together is a family of over a lakh people. The campus houses a 2,600- bedded super speciality hospital (KIMS), a multi-storey central library, a central research facility, a 22-storey research and innovation wing, auditoriums – the largest one with 5,000 seating capacity, 18 sports complexes, many international standard stadiums covering all sports, 30 food courts, and a rose garden. The institution takes pride in being the greenest campus in India.

Sustainable and Green Frontiers (SGF)

Sustainable and Green Frontiers (SGF) is envisioned as an international forum that brings together a diverse community of researchers, scientists, environmentalists, technologists, policy makers, and academicians from across the globe to present their research, innovations, and insights while sharing their perspectives on some of the most pressing global challenges of our time. The conference is anchored around the guiding principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing a dynamic platform for dialogue and collaboration aimed at advancing solutions that are socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and scientifically robust. At SGF 2025, participants will explore cutting-edge innovations in materials science, biomolecular engineering, life sciences, environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and technological innovation. The forum will provide opportunities to deliberate on SDGs such as Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life Below Water (SDG 14), and Life on Land (SDG 15).By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and encouraging the exchange of transformative ideas, SGF 2025 aspires to shape actionable strategies for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, renewable energy, clean technologies, and improved human well-being—aligning science, technology, and innovation with the collective vision of a greener and more sustainable future for all.
