NANDANKANAN

literally meaning  "The Garden of Heaven", is located near the capital city, Bhubaneswar, in the environs of the Chandaka forest. The zoo is home to many animals of different species. Major attractions are Bengal tigers, Asiatic lion, Indian leopard, Indian python and King cobra.

UDAYAGIRI AND KHANDAGIRI CAVES

formerly called Cuttack caves, are partly natural and partly artificial caves of archaeological, historical and religious importance near the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. The caves are situated on two adjacent hills, Udayagiri and Khandagiri, Total 18 caves are present in Udaygiri and 15 caves are present in khandagiri.

BARABATI STADIUM

CHILIKA LAKE

CHILIKA LAKE is a brackish water lagoon ,it is the largest coastal lagoon in India and the largest brackish water lagoon in the world. It is the largest wintering ground for over 160 species of migratory birds. Tourist attractions are Kalijai temple, Dolphin fish, Red crab island, Bird Sanctuary.

DHAULI

DHAULI is located on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar. Dhauli hill is presumed to be the area where the Kalinga War was fought. The dome structure of the Shanti Stupa also known as possesses five umbrellas and they symbolize the five essential parts of Buddhism.

SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK

SIMILIPAL NATIONAL PARK is a national park and a tiger reserve in the Mayurbhanj district. The park is home to Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, gaur, and chausingha. Visitors can enjoy the view of various flora and fauna present here.

A dedicated region of the beach is a certified missile launching site for the Indian Army under the Defense Research and Development Organization. Akash, Surya, Agni and Prithvi ballistic missiles were launched from here.

PADMASAMBHAVA MAHAVIHARA MONASTERY

The PADMASAMBHAVA MAHAVIHARA MONASTERY also known as Thupten Mindolling Monastery located at Jeerango, Gajapati district, It is said to be the largest Buddhist monastery in Eastern India. It was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in January 2010. Tourist can experience the beauty of this place.

How to Reach Bhubaneswar

By Air : If you are planning to travel to Bhubaneswar from a place that is way farther, then it is recommended that you travel by flight since it is the best mode of transport to reach Bhubaneswar for those traveling long distances. Biju Patnaik International Airport is the airport situated 6 km away from the city center. BBI is the code of the airport. Some of the cities with which Bhubaneswar has direct connectivities are New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Bangalore. One can easily avail taxis and local buses from the airport to reach your destination. The distance between Bhubaneswar airport to Bhubaneswar railway station is 5 km, therefore, one can easily travel the distance through an auto-rickshaw, a taxi, or a local bus.

By Train : Many Indian cities are connected with Bhubaneswar with its well-connected railway system. Bhubaneswar Railway Station is the main railway station in the city. Even the distance from Bhubaneswar airport to the railway station is not that much, thus, making it all the more feasible. By Road : Bhubaneswar bus depots are heavily flocked with passengers. The distance between Bhubaneswar airport to Baramunda bus stand is 5.5 km that can be easily covered within 13 to 15 minutes. There are three bus stations in the city, however, Baramunda Bus Station is the main bus station in Bhubaneswar. It is 8 km away from the city center. From here one can easily avail buses that run under Orissa State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) and also by privately owned operators.
