Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) is a deemed to be university located at Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. KIIT is unique among its peer institutions in having twenty eight schools co-located on one contiguous campus offering more than 100 programs including UG/PG studies in the disciplines including engineering, management, medicine and law. KIIT has been awarded Tier-1 status by NBA (AICTE), accredited with Grade ‘A++’ by NAAC (UGC), ranked 20th among the Indian universities ranked by NIRF and has been accredited by ABET, USA & IET, U.K. We also take pride in being home to the largest and first tribal university of the world Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a protégé of KIIT which is a noble initiative of our honourable founder (KIIT/KISS) Prof. Achyuta Samanta. ABOUT SCHOOL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME), KIIT possesses highly qualified and experienced faculty members from various IITs, NITs and other reputed institutions. The current consultancy and research & development areas of the school include jet and spray impingement heat transfer, droplet and spray combustion, computational fluid dynamics, mechanical systems design & optimization, biomass and biofuels (synthesis, analysis and optimization), vibration and machine condition monitoring, meta machining, metal matrix/polymer matrix composites (fabrication and characterization), metal forming. The unique points are as follows:

  • It is a community-based university, a university of compassion and humanity that is found in no other university in the country.
  • It is the only university with unmatched infrastructure such as the upcoming 5500-capacity auditorium and convention centre, 400 staff quarters, and a 22 storied R&D building. The university already has 1 lakh sq. ft. R&D building on campus 3.
  • The Central Library is yet another unique feature of the university with state-of-art infrastructure. It is the reference point for students of all departments and offers access to its rich repository 24×7. Besides, every school is equipped with huge libraries.
  • The internationalization of higher education is one of the key parameters for ranking agencies. KIIT has done exceptionally well in various rankings. Experts from KIIT are not only providing periodic investigation to NHAI project sites but are also offering state urban sanitation strategies, and building and structural designs of heritage projects.

  • KIIT and KISS have produced Olympians as well. The University is proud of having seven students who are Olympians. In the ongoing Commonwealth Games, three students are from KIIT.
  • The foremost uniqueness of the university lies in the fact that President Draupadi Murmu’s son is a product of KIIT. Her son-in-law was also a product of KISS and was a member of the Rugby team that won the junior Rugby World Cup in 2008 in England.
