In and Around Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Konark and Puri make the perfect Golden Triangle in Odisha — the best way to explore the real charm of Odisha tourism. During your visit around the seminar, you can experience the rich cultural heritage, temple architecture, sea beaches, natural wonders and the warm Odia culture and traditions.

The city of Bhubaneswar itself is home to some of the finest tourist attractions, including the Lingaraj Temple, Ananta Vasudeva Temple, Raja Rani Temple, Parsurameswar Temple, Brahmeswar Temple and Mukteswar Temple. Nearby attractions include Dhauli Hill, Nandankanan Zoo, Ekamra Kanan and the ancient caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri.

Konark, a short drive away, is known for the world-famous Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with Chandrabhaga Beach. Puri, the seat of Sri Jagannath Prabhu, is one of India’s four most sacred Char Dham pilgrimage sites — home to the Jagannath Temple, Gundicha Temple and Puri Beach.

  • Lingaraj Temple

LINGARAJ TEMPLE is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the oldest temples in Bhubaneswar. It represents the quintessence of Kalinga architecture and the culmination of the city’s medieval temple-building tradition.

  • Udayagiri & Khandagiri Caves

UDAYAGIRI AND KHANDAGIRI CAVES are partly natural, partly artificial caves of archaeological and religious importance, set on two adjacent hills — 18 caves at Udayagiri and 15 at Khandagiri.

  • Dhauli

DHAULI sits on the banks of the river Daya, 8 km south of Bhubaneswar, and is presumed to be where the Kalinga War was fought. Its Shanti Stupa, with five umbrellas, symbolises the five essential parts of Buddhism.

KONARK SUN TEMPLE, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a 13th-century temple dedicated to the Sun God, shaped like a 100-foot chariot with 24 wheels and 7 horses, all carved in stone.

  • Golden Beach, Puri

GOLDEN BEACH, PURI lies just 1 km from the Jagannath Temple. Visitors can enjoy a speed-boat ride, camel ride, sand art, a scenic sunrise or sunset, and fresh local seafood.

  • Chilika Lake

CHILIKA LAKE, the largest brackish-water lagoon in India, is the wintering ground for over 160 species of migratory birds. Highlights include the Kalijai temple, Irrawaddy dolphins and Bird Sanctuary.
