MANLIBNET was registered as a Society under Societies Registration Act, 1860 in the year 2000 with broad objectives of providing a common forum to the library professionals and to develop understanding and co-operation particularly among management and business libraries and the librarians for effective collaboration and resource sharing.

Background

KIIT Central Library

Library and Information Science as a discipline is constantly growing in all dimensions by leaps and bounds. The conventional printed resources and pattern of services have been drastically changed owing to the latest revelation of Information Communication Technology (ICT) giving rise to plethora of electronic resources like e-books, e-journals, e-theses and dissertations among others. Therefore, there has been a clarion call from all quarters mostly from academic community to reorganise and revamp systems and services of the contemporary practice of librarianship.

The latest revelations of information technology coupled have challenged LIS professionals to adopt new skills and technologies marching beyond the conventional practice of librarianship. There has been radical change in information repackaging and consolidation tailoring to information needs and demands of users’ community. Selection and procurement of e-resources in the forms of e-books, e-journals, e-theses and dissertations, management of web portals and institutional repositories and such other key issues have called for the professional gathering and exchange of views for effective management administration of various libraries and information centres.

Management Libraries Network in association with KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar is jointly organizing an International Conference on “Libraries of the Future: Emerging Trends” during January, 27-29, 2022. This conference promises to set a platform for LIS professionals, academicians and research scholars to present papers, discuss and share views, knowledge and experiences on emerging trends of librarianship on below mentioned theme and sub-themes of the conference.

Objective of the Conference

  • Create a  platform of professional forum and network and to ensure uniform professional practices
  • Ensure healthy professional discussion among LIS professionals
  • Identify best practices followed in different libraries

  • Address various issues and problems faced by librarians in managing their respective institutional libraries
  • Constructive recommendations to government and policy making bodies for taking necessary measure in policy reformations.

Structure of the Conference

The conference includes keynote speech, invited lectures, paper presentations, panel discussions, product demos and report of the conference. The MANLIBNET will also hold its General Body Meeting during the conference. MANLIBNET will present the Best Librarian and Best Paper Awards during the conference.

KIIT emphasizes on its library systems and services that support the all round academic and research requirement. The University has set up a huge central library along with 17 fully fledged school libraries. Library facilities and services are offered to students, research scholars and faculty members of different schools through 17 well established independent school libraries located at respective schools of KIIT Deemed to be University as well as from the Central Library that is located in an independent campus. The Central Library, housed in an 8 storied building spread over an area of 10, 000 sqm acts as the main learning resource centre of the University. Besides, the University has recently established a unique spiritual library at Jagannath temple, KISS catering to the needs of religious people, humble souls, saints and philanthropists by building a balanced collection acquired from distinguished religious institutions, missions, and maths. In the year 2019, the University has established three imposing libraries namely, Gandhian Library, Fiction Library, and Poetry Library.

KIIT Central Library today has a robust holdings  of  2,27,770 reference books and 11,36,115 text books with 53,521 book titles; 42 e-journal databases; 571 print-journals; 67 magazines and 27 newspapers (English, Hindi, Oriya); 28,195+ full text e-journals; more than 4 million e-theses and dissertations; 1,36,601+e-books;16806 bound volumes and 3368 CD/DVDs. The Central Library offers its users the convenient access to the best of Engineering, Business and Management, Law, Biotechnology, Medical Science related digital resources round the clock all across the campus via Wi-Fi network.
