Overview

Science is the best weapon to fight against all evils and all-round growth of the society. To protect ‘Swatantrata’, self-reliance, health for all, employment for all programs in the country Science proves its position. ‘Chandrayan-3’ & ‘Aditya-L-1’ demonstrate the activity of science promotion in the country. To develop superstition free democratic society it is the science and its philosophy is of central requirement. Science promotion is required through science teaching, arranging seminars, workshops, conferences etc. Material is the outcome of continuous scientific research towards application for the sustainable growth of the civilization. Emerging Smart Material in Applied Chemistry (ESMAC-2023) of School of Applied Science, KIIT and Interdisciplinary Science for Sustainability (ISS) of Indian Photobiology Society, one of the oldest interdisciplinary organisation, are such science program to be held jointly with KIIT & CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar during 18-20 November, 2023.

Senior and Young scientists will join in this program to exchange their understanding and queries to improve the quality and quantity of scientific research towards the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs). More than 500 researchers will join via talks and posters. Competitions among Young Scientists will be awarded via Oral and Poster presentations.

It is admired all over for the quality of its academic courses, its community outreach work and as a university of compassion and humanitarianism. It has become a case study because no other educational institution in India has grown in its scope and scale as much as KIIT has in a short span of 25 years.

It has received all accreditations and affiliations from prestigious national and international bodies such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), USA and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, (IET), UK because of its quality research, innovation, and publications and citations. KIIT is ranked in the cohort of 601-800 in the Times Higher Education ‘World University Ranking’.  It has also been the top university for innovation among private institutions for two consecutive years (2020, 2021) according to AICTE, Government of India. It has been ranked among the top 151-200 universities in the world as per the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2022.

About the CSIR

Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT)

CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT) was established on 13.04.1964 as Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar in the eastern part of India under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi. It was renamed in 2007 with a renewed research focus and growth strategy to be a leader in the areas of mineral & material resource engineering.

The institute has expertise in conducting basic research and technology oriented programs in a wide range of subjects to address the R&D problems of mining, mineral and metals industries and ensure their sustainable development. For the last one decade, the main thrust of R&D at CSIR-IMMT has been to empower Indian industries to meet the challenges of globalization by providing advanced and zero waste process know-how and consultancy services for commercial exploitation of natural resources through the public-private-partnership (PPP) approach. Today, CSIR-IMMT is the first choice for many mineral based industries. It is also carving out a niche in processing of advanced materials for greater value addition and working on resource use efficiency of critical raw materials.
