Create, Connect, and Continue

Building on the remarkable success of previous editions, KIIT Deemed to be University is proudly announcing the International Conference on Marching Beyond the Libraries: Create, Connect, and Continue (ICMBL 2027) during 22-23 January 2027.

The theme of the International Conference reflects the evolving role of libraries in shaping knowledge societies in the digital era. Libraries today are not merely repositories of information but vibrant ecosystems that encourage creativity, facilitate meaningful connections, and ensure the continuous flow of knowledge across communities and generations.

In a rapidly changing information landscape, libraries must move beyond traditional boundaries and embrace innovative approaches to knowledge creation, collaborative networking, and sustainable information services. Moreover, this theme emphasizes the importance of fostering creative thinking, strengthening professional and technological connections, and sustaining the mission of libraries as enduring pillars of education, research, and social development.

Create

Creation has become a central aspect of modern libraries. Libraries are increasingly transforming into spaces where knowledge is not only accessed but also generated. Through digital tools, maker spaces, research support services, and open knowledge initiatives, libraries empower users to create new knowledge, content, and innovative solutions.

This sub-theme focuses on how libraries can cultivate creativity, support scholarly production, encourage digital content development, and promote innovation in information services. It also highlights the role of librarians as facilitators of knowledge creation and intellectual growth.

Connect

In the knowledge-driven world, connectivity plays a vital role in expanding the reach and impact of libraries. Libraries act as bridges that connect people with information, institutions with communities, and ideas with opportunities. Through digital platforms, collaborative networks, and global partnerships, libraries strengthen the exchange of knowledge beyond geographical boundaries.

This sub-theme explores strategies for enhancing connectivity through information communication technologies, collaborative research networks, resource sharing, and community engagement initiatives that strengthen the role of libraries as inclusive knowledge hubs.

Continue

Sustainability and continuity are essential for the long-term relevance of libraries. As information environments evolve, libraries must continuously adapt their services, technologies, and professional practices to meet emerging user needs. The commitment to lifelong learning, preservation of knowledge, and sustainable development ensures that libraries remain enduring institutions serving future generations.

This sub-theme emphasizes the importance of continuous innovation, sustainable information services, capacity building, and the preservation and dissemination of knowledge in a rapidly transforming digital world.

In a nutshell, the conference theme serves as an invitation to the global library community to collectively explore new pathways for creativity, collaboration, and sustainability in library and information services. Participants can expect engaging discussions, scholarly exchange, and collaborative opportunities that will contribute to shaping the future direction of libraries in the knowledge society.

ICMBL 2027 aims to bring together a diverse community of LIS professionals, academicians, technologists, and industry experts from across the globe to share insights, research outcomes, and best practices. The conference will  provide a dynamic platform for discussing future-ready libraries, emerging technologies, open knowledge systems, and the role of libraries in fostering inclusive and connected societies.

With its strong legacy and forward-looking vision, ICMBL 2027 is expected to further strengthen global collaborations and contribute significantly to the advancement of Library and Information Science.
