Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar is among India’s most sought-after universities, sprawling over 25 sq. km. area with 12 million sq. ft. of built up area, attracting students from all over India and more than 65 countries to pursue professional and technical education. From a modest beginning in 1997, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University has evolved into a multi-disciplinary University, respected worldwide for its culture of educational excellence. Currently the University has 30 constituent schools, contiguously located in impeccably landscaped and modern- technology-enabled campuses, offering graduate, post-graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral programmes in a wide range of disciplines. KIIT has been accredited with an A++ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an all-India 17th rank by the National Institution of Ranking Framework 2025, NIRF, Ministry of Education. It has also been the top university for innovation among private institutions for two consecutive years (2020, 2021) according to AICTE, Government of India. It has been ranked among the top 151-200 universities in the world as per the Times Higher Education Young University Ranking 2022. Central Library

Central Library plays an integral role in supporting the academic programmes of the university. The library resources of KIIT Deemed to be University comprises excellent collections of books, reports, journals, electronic resources, institutional repository and items in all conceivable areas to encourage interdisciplinary and value added research. Library facilities and services are offered to students, research scholars and faculty members of different schools through 22 well established independent school libraries located at respective schools of KIIT Deemed to be University as well as from the Central Library that is located in an independent campus. The Central Library, housed in an 8 storied building spread over an area of 10, 000 sqm acts as the main learning resource centre of the University. The university library is steadily growing under the aegis of Honourable Founder KIIT, KISS & KIMS  Prof. (Dr.) Achyuta Samanta. The vision and mission of KIIT central library is not just to cater to the academic and research needs of the institution but to render services to the society. Steps are being taken to expand the domain of services and facilities of the library in line with the vision and mission of Honourable Founder to set it as a unique world class library for institutions of different parts of the country and world to follow suit.

Department of Library & Information Science

The Department of Library and Information Science at KIIT Deemed to be University is dedicated to nurturing future leaders and professionals in the dynamic field of library and information science. With a strong emphasis on both academic excellence and practical training, the department equips students with advanced competencies in information organization, management, retrieval, and digital librarianship preparing them to excel in diverse information environments such as academic libraries, public institutions, cultural organisations, and corporate information centres. Offering postgraduate programmes including the Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) and Ph.D. in Library and Information Science, the department fosters a vibrant learning ecosystem supported by expert faculty, research opportunities, and exposure to emerging technological trends in information science. With a mission to develop dynamic professionals capable of leading modern information services and a vision to be a premier hub for innovation and scholarship in the discipline, the department integrates hands‑on experience, research orientation, and industry engagement to broaden students’ career prospects and impact.
